Don’t plan results. A mantra I adopted years ago and one that has saved me an enormous amount of frustration and resentment. The “plan” was the have the final “everything must go” yard sale this weekend as I am out of town visiting our son next weekend. Of course The Universe had other plans as Hurricane Florence arrived on our doorstep in the early hours this morning. Ok then, Plan B it is! We’ve moved the sale to next weekend, whether I’m here or not, lol. I was initially worried as I thought without any help, several items may walk away if Andy is the only person manning the sale. Then it occurred to me, we’re donating everything that is left, so really, if something walks, it’s a wash, lol! No worries 🙂. So, here we are at the wire, we move 2 weeks from today 😳🙃 After my trip the first week of September and into these subsequent days, I am truly getting a dose of what “island time” means. That circles me around to the mantra I just mentioned 😉. More on that in the days to come, including everything we had to do to get our cats ready to go. Stay tuned!
I hope your recent mission to SXM was successful. Two weeks to the move! Hooray!! We are using this “found time” in dreary, wet NC to work on our downsizing project….another step for us toward our goal of more time in SXM. Stay safe in NC, have a good visit with your son, and we’ll see you sometime at “home” in SXM. PS do you have your absentee ballots so you can vote? (My small contribution to the midterms–reminding SXM travelers.)

I sent in the paperwork to have them mailed to me but nothing yet. It’s on my calendar to call them next week if we don’t get them today. We are theoretically supposed to have them 60 days out 😐. It feels as though we still have an insane amount of stuff to do. I’ll see how I feel after these last boxes are packed this weekend.

We have already voted in the AZ primaries (our last State of residence) and the expat voter registration process was seamless. Hope you experience the same, as this midterm election has us all on the edge of our seats. Still, when you’re making an international move, other stuff is even higher on the list… trust us, we know! Best wishes from Mexico!

Thanks, Gayla! We have not yet received our absentee ballots. I tried calling today but could not get a human. They may be closed due to the hurricane. I’ll try again this week.
